Article 37.1 of Regulation EU 2016/679 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), establishes that public authorities and bodies are required to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO).

Their functions are defined in Article 39 of the GDPR and consist primarily of informing and advising the Town Council and its employees about the obligations regarding the processing of personal data, and supervising compliance. Additionally, they must cooperate with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) and act as the point of contact between the agency and the Town Council.
Similarly, any citizen may contact the Data Protection Officer if they have questions about the processing of their data by the Town Council or if they do not agree with it.
